c. 1910s-1930s; American or Central European Origin

Large hand-operated kraut cutter featuring a hardwood frame with dual steel blades set at a steep cutting angle and secured by iron wing-nuts. The integrated sliding box guided the cabbage head along the sharpened edge, allowing for consistent, fine shredding - an indispensable kitchen or small farm tool before mechanical slicers came into use. The dovetail joinery, iron hardware, and aged patina throughout speak to durable, utilitarian craftsmanship.

Wood shows age-darkened surfaces with scattered marks and light oxidation to the blade assembly; structure remains solid and complete. Please refer to photos regarding condition.
