Early 20th Century Brewing Company Shipping Crate

c. 1900s - 1910s; Goetz Brewing Co. - St. Joseph, MO

Antique heavy-duty wooden shipping crate stenciled "GOETZ COMPANY PROPERTY - ST. JOSEPH, MO." across the front panel in bold industrial lettering. Constructed with thick pine planks, forged steel corner brackets, and hinged lid hardware, this piece exemplifies early 20th-century American shipping craftsmanship. The Goetz Company was a brewery from 1859 until 1976. The company was a business cornerstone for the St. Joseph area, employing many community members for over 100 years.

This piece features a rustic look with iron hinges and straps for support. It includes the lid, although care should be taken when opening due to the amount of rust on the hinges. The company name is stamped along both sides as well as on the interior. The wood has started to split, but the crate remains in good display condition.
